Warum Deine Haut keine Creme braucht

Why Your Skin Doesn't Need a Cream

How you can avoid unnecessary synthetic fillers with a very simple trick and optimally moisturise your skin at the same time!

One of the most frequently asked questions is why we don't offer a cream. Quite simply: because your skin doesn't need a cream! Creams are basically a mixture of water and oil, i.e. an emulsion. The basic idea is to "kill two birds with one stone": the skin should be provided with its two most important needs at the same time: Moisturising and nourishing. However, this mixture of the two components in just one product is the reason why creams have to contain so many ingredients. One or even several emulsifiers ensure that water and oil can combine permanently, while a high proportion of preservatives makes the mixture even more durable. In addition, consistency agents, stabilisers and other synthetically produced ingredients are required to ensure that the product feels and behaves as you would expect from a cream.

Most of these substances are therefore only fillers that do not offer any added value to the skin: they do not contain any nutrients such as vitamins, antioxidants or essential fatty acids, but are only there to stabilise and preserve the cream.

That's why we use a very simple trick to avoid all these unnecessary synthetic substances: so-called 'layering'. In The Glow, we have separated the two components, the water phase (our Floral Essence) and the oil phase (Everything Oil, Master Elixir or Wonderbalm).

You either apply the two components on top of each other or simply mix them together in the palm of your hand. The heat of your hands and the shear forces of rubbing create an emulsion - in other words, a cream - but without any unnecessary fillers. Another advantage of this technique is flexibility. While the ratio of water to oil in a cream is fixed and cannot be changed, you determine how much oil or moisturiser you want to add to your skin every day by mixing. This means you get 'skin couture' instead of off-the-shelf cosmetics and can cater precisely to your skin's current needs. For example, if your skin feels dehydrated or oily, use more Floral Essence. If the skin is tight and needs a little more care, use more oil or Wonderbalm. This way, your skin is optimally moisturised at all times and you save dozens of unnecessary ingredients. This is not only good for you, but also for the environment.
