Clean skin with the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)

How to avoid unnecessary synthetic fillers with a very simple trick and optimise your skin care at the same time!

The Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) is based on the principle of 'fighting like with like'. Oil combines perfectly with sebum, make-up and dirt and cleanses the skin without drying it out with aggressive surfactants. Another advantage: the facial massage and removal with a cloth also loosens calluses. This allows sebum to drain away unhindered and ensures clear pores and a refined complexion.

How to cleanse your face with the Oil Cleansing Method:

Oily and normal skin: massage a small dab of oil (about six to seven drops) thoroughly onto uncleansed skin in the evening. Dip a flannel in hot - not boiling - water and place the cloth briefly on your face. Breathe in deeply and enjoy the warmth and relaxing effect of the essential oils. Then carefully remove the oil with the cloth. Use a fresh cloth the next day or wash it out thoroughly with hot water and a little mild soap.

Dry and sensitive skin: Dry and sensitive skin does not like hot water, so we take a slightly different approach to oil cleansing. Massage the Oil Cleanser into dry skin and remove with a dry (!) flannel or cleansing cloth. If you tend to have dehydrated skin, Oil Cleansing is not the ideal cleanser for you, in which case we recommend our Cleansing Cream.

What happens afterwards?

Once your skin is clean, moisturise it again by gently patting in a pure floral water such as rose or orange blossom water or using a moisturising toner such as our Floral Essence.

Finally, massage a few drops of Everything Oil or Master Elixir into damp skin, whichever suits your current skin condition better. This will lock the moisture into the skin. If your skin needs a little richer moisturiser afterwards, apply a little Wonderbalm to the dry areas, lips and around the eyes.

easily make it yourself?

Here's a DIY recipe that's guaranteed to work:

  • 5 tsp grape seed oil
  • 5 tsp olive oil
  • Optional: 2 drops of peppermint oil for skin prone to inflammation, 2 drops of lavender oil for normal and dry skin.
  • A 50ml bottle, ideally with a pump cap. A pipette or screw cap will also work.

Grapeseed oil and olive oil are 'light' oils full of antioxidants, they nourish the skin without leaving a greasy residue and at the same time prevent inflammation. Lavender and peppermint oil have an antibacterial, wound-healing and sebum-regulating effect. A powerful combination against oily shine and impurities!

IT WORKS SO SIMPLY:

1. Pour grape seed oil and olive oil into the bottle using a small funnel.
2. Drizzle 1 drop of tea tree oil and 3 drops of peppermint oil onto a spoon and add to the bottle.
3. Close the bottle tightly. Roll briefly back and forth between the palms of your hands so that the oils mix well. Done!
